Sketch Painting

Sometimes a sketch painting is the spark for something larger. This one came as both a release and a test—there are moments when an abstract composition flows easily from within, and other times when the forms need to be wrestled with, shaped, and carried from the mental into the physical. Putting it down on canvas is a way of seeing if those ideas hold, if they have strength in the real world as much as they do in thought.
