My Winter Abbey Yung hair Method!!

I’ve officially been using the Abbey Yung Method (yes, that one by Abbey Yung), and listen… I get the hype now.

Here’s how I do it 👇

✨ Oil my mids + ends BEFORE shampoo (protects my length)

✨ Double shampoo (scalp only — no scrubbing the ends)

✨ Condition mids to ends only

✨ Leave-in on damp hair

✨ Heat protectant always (non-negotiable)

The difference??

✔️ Softer ends

✔️ Less breakage

✔️ Cleaner scalp without stripping

✔️ Hair that looks healthier between wash days

It honestly feels like skincare rules, but for hair, and once you try it… you won’t go back.

The key is the pre-shampoo oiling step where you apply oil to the mids and ends before washing. This extra protection significantly reduces dryness and prevents your hair from becoming brittle, which is a common issue in winter due to the harsh, dry air. Doubling up on shampoo but focusing only on the scalp helps maintain a clean, healthy scalp without stripping the hair strands of their natural moisture. I used to scrub my entire hair vigorously, which left my ends frizzy and damaged, but this method changed that completely. Conditioning only the mids to ends ensures hydration where it’s needed most without weighing down the roots, which tends to happen when conditioner is applied too close to the scalp. I also found that using a leave-in treatment on damp hair locks in moisture better and keeps my hair manageable throughout the day. The heat protectant is non-negotiable, especially during winter when I use heat styling tools to maintain style and warmth; it avoids heat damage and breakage. What I love most is that this routine feels like skincare but tailored for hair – gentle yet effective. After a few weeks, my hair looked noticeably softer with fewer split ends and breakage. It even stayed fresh longer, reducing the need for frequent washes, which can be harsh during winter. Whether you have straight, wavy, curly, or coily hair, adapting these steps can improve your hair’s health and appearance through the winter months.
