not wasting another breathe
Sometimes when I stop reacting to things, it doesn’t mean I’ve suddenly found peace with what happened. It just means I’m exhausted. I had a toxic friend would always talk about me behind my back.. After confronting her many times, the constant back and forth drained me. So I shut down, not because I’m healed or over it, but because I got tired of constantly confronting her over and over again.
She thought that my silence meant that I didn’t care anymore, or that I’ve forgiven and forgotten. But the truth is, deep down, it still stings. I’ve just decided that arguing with someone who refuses to listen isn’t worth it.
If I run into her now, I’ll say hi and that’s all. That’s all she deserves from me.
So, for now, I’ll hold onto my silence when I need to. I’ll keep choosing my own peace over pointless arguments. And maybe one day, the things I hold inside will feel lighter, not because others finally understood, but because I learned to release them for my own sake.

Well said. And you are most definitely correct. Toxic people will always take the silence as either others defeat or cowardice. Truth is, it's neither. They're just not worth it. Their egos try to tell them they've won, but deep down they know it's not true. They do it to build themselves up, because they know they're the pathetic ones, when you're the strong one. Believe me, I know from personal experience. They're just not worth it. Stick to yourself girl. You're doing well.
