Do you hate social media sometimes?
Lately I’ve been realizing how much social media has slowly chipped away at women’s confidence, including mine. It feels like every time I scroll, I’m being shown the the perfect skin, small waist, nice hair, a spotless house, some aesthetic morning routine that looks nothing like my real life. Even when I know it’s edited, it still gets in my head. I start comparing myself in ways I didn’t even mean to, like suddenly questioning my body, my lifestyle, my accomplishments… things I was perfectly fine with five minutes before opening the app. It’s like this quiet, constant pressure to “keep up,” and it sneaks up on you without you noticing.
What makes it worse is that social media doesn’t just show us unrealistic standards… it rewards them. The girls who look the most filtered or “perfect” get the most likes, and it makes the rest of us feel like we’re falling short. Even when I try to remind myself that it’s not real, part of me still absorbs it. And it’s exhausting, because I know I’m not the only one feeling this way. So many women are waking up every day feeling “not enough” because an app keeps feeding us impossible expectations. Honestly, it’s scary how quietly it happens… how you lose pieces of your confidence one comparison at a time. #girltalk #girlpov #AskLemon8 #lemon8challenge #lemon8contest
