Setbacks and Strength ❥

Three (𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘳) weeks ago, life took an unexpected turn—literally. A car accident brought everything to a halt, including the consistent rhythm of walking workouts and strength training

I had built into my weeks at the YMCA.

And honestly, the pause might have been necessary.

About six weeks ago, I strained the inside of my right knee, and the pain has lingered. It’s been

hard —nerve pain, relying on the other leg too much, low back pain, sore arms and shoulders from limited sleep positions. Healing has felt slow, uncomfortable, and frustrating.

But today, I returned.

Not because I’m pain-free.

Not because everything is perfect.

But because I made a choice: to begin again.

Setbacks will come.

Pain is real.

But so is the strength we grow when we

don’t give up.

“𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘯𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵.” – Psalm 34:18

“𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘯'𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘳. 𝘚𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘦𝘵 𝘷𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘴𝘢𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨, ‘𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸.’” – Mary Anne Radmacher

If you’re going through something —physically, emotionally, spiritually —I just want to say:

𝙮𝙤𝙪'𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙚.

Starting again might not look or feel how it

used to.

... Read moreSetbacks are a part of life, and everyone faces challenges that test their strength and resolve. Whether experiencing a physical, emotional, or spiritual setback, it is crucial to remember that healing is a journey, not a race. Developing a mindset of resilience can transform how we cope with difficulties. One helpful step is to acknowledge your feelings instead of pushing them aside; it helps to create a clearer path to healing. Seeking support from friends, family, or support groups can provide comfort and encouragement during tough times. Remember to incorporate gentle physical activity, meditation, or creative outlets into your daily routine to facilitate emotional expression and physical recovery. Grounding practices can enhance your sense of well-being and remind you of your strength when facing adversity. Faith can often play a vital role in overcoming hardships. Many find solace in spiritual practices, affirmations, or inspirational quotes, reminding us that we are never alone in our struggles. Sharing personal experiences and connecting with others who have faced similar challenges can foster a community of understanding and support. Ultimately, embracing setbacks as opportunities for growth may lead to newfound strength. As you reflect on your journey, consider how past obstacles have contributed to your resilience. Making the choice to begin again, regardless of the circumstances, is a powerful testament to the human spirit.
