Set Apart ..

𝗦𝗲𝘁 𝗔𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁, 𝗦𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗱

It’s drizzly here today—no sunshine in sight

until maybe Sunday.

But I’ve learned something over the years…

Even when skies stay gray,

Light still rises from within.

This morning, my husband and I sat with

our coffee and opened the Word together

—right back in Hebrews 11. A passage written

to persecuted believers, but wow, does it speak right into the days we’re living in now.

There’s a list of the faithful—those who

conquered kingdoms, administered justice,

gained what was promised. But tucked in those verses (33–34) are the quiet miracles:

Those who shut the mouths of lions,

quenched the fury of flames,

and escaped the edge of the sword—

whose weakness was turned into strength.

“𝘔𝘺 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘶𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘔𝘺 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦

𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴." -2 𝘊𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘴 12:9

It struck me.

Maybe the risk God is asking us to take right

now isn’t something bold and visible.

Maybe it’s the quiet courage to live set apart.

To be okay with fewer friends and deeper faith.

To find joy in the unseen places.

To let go of the crowd and walk in step with

the Shepherd.

For many years, even before our move,

Al and I found ourselves in a quieter rhythm

of life. Holidays were often still.

Gatherings were fewer.

But I never saw it as isolation.

Looking back, I believe it was invitation.

An invitation into deeper intimacy with God…

and with each other.

He was gently preparing us for a life more

rooted, more peaceful, more deeply aligned

with His presence.

But not lonely.

I think He’s been preparing us for this.

For fewer distractions.

For deeper intimacy.

For the kind of faith that grows in the stillness.

“𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥'𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭."

So I’ll ask you what I’m asking myself today:

—>What risk is God inviting you to take

in faith right now?

Maybe it’s letting go of needing to be

understood.

Maybe it’s choosing rest when the world

demands more.

Maybe it’s stepping into a calling no one

else sees yet—because He does.

Just know this—

God doesn’t call the qualified.

He qualifies the called.

And He’s still turning weakness into strength.

“𝘕𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯 𝘶𝘯𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦

𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘎𝘰𝘥." ~ 𝘊𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘯 𝘉𝘰𝘰𝘮

Even in the drizzle, the Light shines.
