concerts on a college budget 💵

Going to a concert is one of my favorite ways to spend my money - here’s how I made it to 7 concerts this summer! Starting with the free ones: Turnstile did a free show in Baltimore, and a friend brought me as a plus one to see Gracie, so those shows were free. I bought a 3 day Gov Ball ticket last October for $300, so each day was around $100. The Driver Era had a buy one get one deal on Valentine’s Day for tickets, so I bought mine then, and for Mumford & Sons we bought tickets 2 days before! #lemon8partner #lemon8college #summerconcerts #govballnyc #gracieabrams

... Read moreAttending concerts while managing a college budget can seem challenging, but with some planning and insider tips, it’s definitely possible to make the most out of summer music events without overspending. One effective strategy is to seek out free concerts, which many cities, including Baltimore, frequently offer—like the free Turnstile show mentioned. Local venues or college-sponsored events often host these kinds of shows, which provide great opportunities to enjoy live music for zero cost. Another smart approach is to capitalize on early ticket deals. For example, buying a 3-day Gov Ball ticket months in advance locked in a decent price, breaking down to about $100 per day, which is reasonable for a major music festival. Look out for seasonal sales and bundle deals like the buy one get one offer for The Driver Era’s concert—it’s a budget-friendly way to attend more shows. Last-minute ticket buys can also be surprisingly affordable if you’re flexible. Tickets for Mumford & Sons were purchased just two days before the concert and were still affordable at $60—a solid deal compared to higher prices earlier on. Using apps and websites dedicated to selling last-minute tickets or connecting with other fans can uncover hidden savings. To stretch your concert budget further, consider going as a plus one with friends who have tickets, just like the experience with Gracie Abrams’ free show. This not only helps save money but also enhances the concert experience with friends. In addition to ticket savings, budgeting for other expenses like transportation, food, and merchandise is critical. Bringing snacks or sharing rides can significantly reduce overall costs. Overall, combining free shows, early purchases, last-minute deals, and social opportunities makes attending multiple concerts on a college budget achievable. Keep an eye on local event calendars, follow artists and venues on social media, and subscribe to newsletters to catch all upcoming deals and free events. This approach ensures vibrant summer concert experiences without financial stress.
