Is “good vibes only” actually bad advice?

I used to think “good vibes only” sounded positive, but the more I’ve thought about it, the more I realize it actually drains me. For me, forced optimism feels heavier than sadness because it makes me act in a way that isn’t authentic.

When I’m around people who live by “good vibes only,” I feel like I can’t be honest about what I’m really going through. It forces me to hide emotions and only share the surface level version of myself. And honestly, that would send me into a spiral because relationships that only allow the “happy side” aren’t real connections.

I’ve found that the most beautiful moments in friendships and relationships come from sharing everything: the good and the bad. That’s where closeness and trust are built. I’d much rather be surrounded by people who let me show up as I am, not as I “should” be.

So for me, it’s not “good vibes only.” It’s all vibes welcome. What is your take on this?
