I Guess I Should Have Scattered

Some monuments aren't built to celebrate perfection.

They're built because someone stayed standing.

"There's a peace in standing shattered right where everyone can see."

From Lit Like This by J.S. Clockwise.

... Read moreThere is a unique kind of strength that comes not from perfection but from enduring through hardship and standing tall despite being broken. In my own experience, I’ve found that embracing vulnerability can be transformative. When I faced personal challenges, the idea of 'standing shattered' really resonated with me—it’s about being openly imperfect and visible in your struggles. This concept is beautifully captured in the poem’s line, "There's a peace in standing shattered right where everyone can see." At first, I thought being broken meant weakness, but over time, I realized vulnerability fosters connection and authenticity. It allows us to accept ourselves fully and inspire others through our resilience. Monuments are often symbols of perfection or victory, but sometimes the most powerful monuments are those that mark endurance and survival. They remind us that resilience is not about flawless existence but about the courage to remain present and strong even when life feels fragmented. Incorporating this mindset has changed how I approach setbacks. Instead of hiding struggles, acknowledging them openly has brought a sense of peace and growth. This creates a space to heal and thrive, encouraging others to do the same. The poem by J.S. Clockwise invites us to find beauty in imperfection, to honor our scars as signs of survival, and to stand proudly in our true, sometimes shattered, selves. This has been one of the most freeing lessons in my journey, and I hope it can offer the same comfort and empowerment to others.
