Supplementing with immune-boosting vitamins such as vitamin C and zinc can also help your body recover faster. Shortening the duration of outbreaks is another key aspect. Some holistic methods encourage stress management techniques like meditation or gentle yoga, since stress is a common trigger. Maintaining a balanced diet rich in lysine (found in foods like fish, chicken, and legumes) while minimizing arginine-rich foods (such as nuts and chocolate) may also help reduce outbreak frequency. Good hygiene practices are essential—keeping affected areas clean and dry can prevent further irritation. Additionally, avoiding harsh soaps and fragranced products protects sensitive skin.
