we both have a favorite group and having a favourite member in that group and we wear our favourite groups’ merches but because I’m a young woman somehow I get called immature make it make sense? #kpop #kpopfyp #relatable #worldcup #fyp
As someone who identifies as a KPOP fan, I've experienced firsthand how society treats fandoms differently based on gender and age. Wearing my favorite group's merchandise, proudly supporting my favorite member, and sharing that passion with the world sometimes invites judgment that's rooted not in the activity itself but in stereotypes about who should be allowed to express such enthusiasm. Interestingly, major global events like the World Cup highlight how sports fans are universally accepted regardless of age or gender, whereas KPOP stans—often younger and predominantly female—are viewed as immature or overly emotional. This contrast is not about the intensity or devotion of fans but reflects how fandoms are socially framed. Through my experience, I've noticed that calling a KPOP fan immature often comes from outdated gender norms that discourage young women from openly expressing strong fandom. This stigma can discourage many from fully enjoying their community or displaying their fandom openly. If we look closely, the fundamental passion shared by sports fans and KPOP fans is similar: dedication, emotional investment, and a sense of belonging. Deconstructing these stereotypes requires recognizing that enthusiasm and commitment have no age or gender boundaries. Sharing this perspective feels important because it fosters respect among different fandom communities and encourages a more inclusive appreciation of all fans. Whether you're cheering for a team on the field or your favorite idol on stage, passion is valid and deserves celebration without judgment.
