I got sun burnt 🥵

Only if my dumb a** knew what sun burn could be like, I would have put sunscreen everywhere and not just on my face 🤦‍♀️

I got severe case of sun burn in Mexico, followed by fever, chills, and aching legs.

Only I know how I survived the 10+ hours of travel and the delayed flights, high on ibuprofen.

In New Jersey it has been raining, and I don’t know what to do cause my burnt skin wants cold air and then I feel the chills and my nose is leaking and I cannot air in heater cause that burns as well. I had almost cold shower today in the winters of nyc.

The food is tasting like nothing.

The good thing is the sun is out and it makes me feel healthy to see natural light.

With the watery eyes I cannot use the screen a lot so filling colors in this adult coloring book and eating some home cooked food.

To the fun I had, universe is balancing it out for me 😅

When that fever hit alongside the chills, it was a constant struggle. One minute I craved cold air, the next I was shivering uncontrollably. My body just couldn't regulate, making everything feel off. Traveling back home with a severe sunburn was an absolute nightmare. Imagine being on 10+ hours of travel, navigating delayed flights, with a body aching from head to toe. Ibuprofen was my only companion, but even that barely dulled the relentless discomfort. Every bump, every turn, every minute felt like an eternity. I wouldn't wish that experience on anyone. Once I was finally home in New Jersey, the recovery presented its own unique challenges. My skin was incredibly sensitive, and the thought of a warm shower was unbearable. I ended up taking almost cold showers, even in the dead of NYC winter, just for a moment of relief. But then the chills would creep back in, my nose was running, and I felt utterly miserable. My appetite completely vanished; food tasted like nothing at all. It was so disheartening, but I tried to nourish myself with simple, home-cooked meals. A plate of white rice with red kidney bean curry and a dollop of yogurt became my go-to – it was bland, but somehow comforting. And a warm glass of chai helped soothe my throat and just made me feel a tiny bit better, even if my taste buds were still on strike. With watery eyes and a body that just wanted to lie still, screen time was out of the question. That's when I rediscovered the joy of an adult coloring book. Filling colors into a beautiful mandala-style floral design, with vibrant red roses and yellow flowers, was surprisingly therapeutic. It was a quiet, engaging activity that kept my mind off the pain and the sheer frustration of being so unwell. It’s amazing how such a simple pleasure can offer so much solace when you’re feeling miserable. Looking back, my biggest takeaway is this: always, always wear sunscreen everywhere, and reapply often! I truly wish my dumb self knew the extent of what a severe sunburn could be like. This experience was a harsh lesson in self-care and respecting the sun's power. Beyond sunscreen, staying hydrated is crucial, even if you don't feel like eating or drinking much. Just remember, your body needs all the support it can get to heal. It’s a long road to recovery, but focusing on these small comforts and being kind to your body makes a huge difference.
