Cypress Springs in Vernon, Florida - Hidden Gem

It truly is one of Florida's coolest hidden springs, and I'm so excited to share more of our experience to help you plan your own adventure. First off, let's talk about getting there. As you know, this gem is only accessible via the waterways, specifically by kayak or canoe. We launched from Cotton Landing Recreation Area. This spot is awesome because it's free to visit and even offers free campsites if you want to make a weekend out of it! Just remember to book those campsites in advance, as they can fill up quickly. Once you launch, you'll want to paddle southwest. Don't be discouraged if the water looks a bit murky brown at first; after about 10 minutes of paddling, you'll see the clear, pretty blue water leading right to the spring. The water is a consistent 70 degrees all year round, making it perfect for a refreshing dip no matter the season, but summer is definitely ideal for cooling off after a warm Florida paddle! The journey itself is part of the fun! Paddling through the see-through creek, you get a real sense of adventure, almost like you're discovering something truly special. Once you arrive at Cypress Spring, it's pure magic. The water is incredibly clear and so refreshing, inviting you to jump right in. This isn't just a place for swimming; there are fantastic snorkel opportunities to explore the underwater world and see what creatures call this spring home. And of course, the rope swing is a must-try! It's a blast for all ages and a perfect way to hang out with friends and family, creating unforgettable memories. A common question is about kayaks. You absolutely need one! You can rent a kayak from local outfitters, or if you're like us, you might bring your own inflatable kayak for convenience and flexibility. Make sure you pack plenty of water, snacks, and sunscreen, as there aren't any concessions once you're on the water. There are spots to pull up and relax, but remember to leave no trace and keep this beautiful natural wonder pristine for everyone to enjoy.
