Finding Joy in the Little Moments
Yesterday felt like a gift.
After what seemed like a very long season, we finally had a beautiful day yesterday. I spent some quiet time outside on my swing with a coffee and a good book, soaking up every bit of sunshine. Later, I joined my book club on Zoom, one of those simple things I genuinely look forward to.
Today, the rain is back and the temperatures have dropped again, but I’m holding onto a little of yesterday’s warmth.
I’m continually reminded that self-care doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s found in a good book, a warm drink, a little sunshine, and meaningful connection.
Yesterday reminded me just how much those little moments can fill your cup.
What little moment brought you joy this week?

I’ve found that some of the most fulfilling self-care comes from embracing the simplicity of everyday life. Like the author, I cherish those peaceful moments outside—the feel of sunshine on my skin while savoring a warm drink and getting lost in a good book. These experiences don’t require grand gestures or expensive activities; they’re accessible and powerful reminders to slow down and appreciate the present. During a typical week, I also tend to find joy in connecting with others, even if it’s virtually, much like the author’s Zoom book club. Sharing thoughts over a book or chatting about life can bring a sense of belonging and help lift spirits, especially on gloomy or rainy days. Holding onto the warmth of previous joyful moments helps me cope when the weather or mood is less favorable. Incorporating little sources of happiness into your routine—whether it’s a quiet moment on a swing, sipping your favorite coffee, or joining a community online—can transform how you view self-care. It doesn’t have to be complicated; often, the key is noticing and appreciating what’s right in front of you. Those small joys build resilience and remind us that life’s beauty often lies in the simplest experiences.
