After releasing the 25H2 version of Windows 11, Microsoft received a series of updates. It focused on the Microsoft 365 desktop suite that many people are familiar with. What's interesting is that the company is preparing to rebrand the icons of all Office apps - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and many others - to match the era and experience with Copilot as its main helper.

The new design will focus on freshness, more modern look, and 3D dimensions. Unlike previous times, it changed from a smooth Metro UI style to a colorful Fluent in 2018, which has been with users for more than 8 years. Now it's time for Microsoft to re-adjust its look to reflect the changes in Microsoft 365, where Copilot became pivotal in connecting apps.

Microsoft says that the new icon is designed to be unified, easy to use and show continuity between all platforms, whether enabled on desktop, mobile or web, will see the same bright and unified design. The update will be gradually released to users and corporate customers in a few weeks.

Of course, the new design will let Microsoft 365 users experience it first. Anyone who still uses the purchased version of Office (one-time, non-monthly subscription) should not update the new icon. You have to wait until Microsoft releases the next version, which is expected to be Office 2026 or Office 2027.

ถ้าเพิ่งเริ่มใช้คอมพิวเตอร์หรือกำลังจัดเครื่องใหม่ “โปรแกรมคอมพิวเตอร์พื้นฐาน” ที่ควรมีจริง ๆ จะเป็นกลุ่มที่ช่วยให้ทำงาน/เรียนได้ครบ ตั้งแต่พิมพ์งาน ทำตาราง ไปจนถึงสื่อสารอีเมล ซึ่งกลุ่มที่คนส่วนใหญ่คุ้นเคยที่สุดก็คือ Microsoft 365 (เดิมหลายคนเรียกติดปากว่า Office) ที่มี Word, Excel, PowerPoint และ Outlook เป็นตัวหลัก 1) โปรแกรมทำเอกสาร (Word) Word เหมาะกับงานรายงาน หนังสือราชการ เรซูเม่ หรือเอกสารที่ต้องจัดหน้าให้เรียบร้อย เวลาเลือกใช้ แนะนำตั้งค่าฟอนต์/ระยะขอบเป็นมาตรฐานตั้งแต่ต้น และใช้ “Styles” ช่วยทำหัวข้อ จะทำสารบัญอัตโนมัติได้ง่ายขึ้นมาก 2) โปรแกรมตารางคำนวณ (Excel) Excel คือของจำเป็นสำหรับงานที่เกี่ยวกับตัวเลข รายรับรายจ่าย งานสต็อก หรือเก็บข้อมูลนักเรียน/ลูกค้า ทริคที่ช่วยมือใหม่คือเริ่มจากสูตรพื้นฐานอย่าง SUM, AVERAGE, IF และการทำตารางแบบ Table เพื่อให้กรอง/จัดเรียงข้อมูลได้เร็วขึ้น ถ้าต้องสรุปข้อมูลหลายแถว ลองหัด PivotTable ไว้ จะประหยัดเวลาแบบเห็นผล 3) โปรแกรมพรีเซนเทชัน (PowerPoint) ใช้ทำสไลด์เรียน-ทำงานได้ครอบจักรวาล แนะนำยึดหลัก “น้อยแต่ชัด” คือ 1 สไลด์ 1 ประเด็น ใช้รูป/ไอคอนช่วยเล่าเรื่อง และเลือกธีมให้คุมโทน จะดูเป็นมืออาชีพขึ้นทันที 4) โปรแกรมอีเมล/ปฏิทิน (Outlook) หลายคนมองข้าม แต่ในชีวิตทำงาน Outlook ช่วยมาก โดยเฉพาะการแยกโฟลเดอร์อีเมล ตั้งกฎ (Rules) และนัดประชุมผ่าน Calendar ทำให้ตามงานง่ายขึ้น ไม่หลุดดีลสำคัญ แล้ว Microsoft 365 ต่างจาก Office ซื้อขาดยังไง? จากประสบการณ์ส่วนตัว ถ้าใช้ทำงานประจำและอยากได้ฟีเจอร์ใหม่ ๆ ต่อเนื่อง Microsoft 365 จะคุ้มกว่า เพราะอัปเดตเรื่อย ๆ และทำงานข้ามเครื่อง (เดสก์ท็อป/มือถือ/เว็บ) ได้ลื่น ส่วน Office แบบซื้อขาดเหมาะกับคนที่ต้องการจ่ายครั้งเดียวและใช้เวอร์ชันเดิมไปยาว ๆ แต่โดยทั่วไปจะไม่ได้ฟีเจอร์หรือดีไซน์ใหม่ทันที ช่วงนี้มีข่าวว่า Microsoft เตรียมปรับ “ไอคอนใหม่” ของแอปใน Microsoft 365 ให้ดูสดใสขึ้นและมีมิติ 3D มากขึ้น (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook ฯลฯ) ซึ่งจะทยอยปล่อยให้ผู้ใช้ Microsoft 365 ได้อัปเดตก่อน ใครที่กำลังเริ่มหัดโปรแกรมคอมพิวเตอร์พื้นฐานพอดี ก็ถือเป็นจังหวะดี เพราะหน้าตาแอปกำลังถูกทำให้เป็นเอกภาพและใช้งานข้ามแพลตฟอร์มง่ายขึ้นอีก สรุปเลือกติดเครื่องแบบพื้นฐานให้ครบ: Word ทำเอกสาร, Excel จัดการข้อมูล, PowerPoint ทำสไลด์, Outlook จัดอีเมล/นัดหมาย แค่นี้ก็ครอบคลุมงานเรียนและงานออฟฟิศส่วนใหญ่แล้ว
