Microsoft is pushing for more users of Windows 11 to upgrade to the latest version, 25H2, especially those still using version 24H2, which is running out of support in October 2026. This transition is part of an update policy based on the life cycle of the operating system. Each version will last about two years before terminating security services, new features, and bug fixes.

For casual users running Windows 11 Home and Pro editions and not under corporate supervision, it is automatically updated to version 25H2 without being directly rejected. Users can only postpone the restart or temporarily delay the installation before the system finally performs the update.

However, this update from 24H2 to 25H2 is considered just an enablement package or small update. Because both versions share the same basic code, it doesn't take long and has a low chance of compatibility problems. Although some users may feel the forced update is annoying, on the whole it allows the system to remain secure and consistently supported in the long run.
