... Read moreHey everyone! 👋 You know how learning Japanese can sometimes feel like climbing a beautiful mountain path through a traditional Japanese village, with new discoveries around every corner? Well, one of the first big discoveries for me was the verb 'shimasu' (します). At first, I just thought it meant 'to do' or 'will do,' which is true for phrases like 'Shukudai o shimasu' (I will do my homework) or 'Benkyō o shimasu' (I will study). But oh boy, there's so much more to it! Many of you are probably asking 'shimasu artinya?' or 'what is shimasu in Japanese?' and you're right to dig deeper! While the core meaning is 'to do' or 'to perform,' 'shimasu' is incredibly versatile. It's not just for actions you *do*, but also for things you *make*, *play*, or even *experience*. This is why you see it in so many different contexts! Let's break down some of the common queries that often pop up. For instance, 'shukudai o shimasu.' 'Shukudai' (宿題) means homework. So, 'shukudai o shimasu' literally means 'I will do homework.' Simple, right? But what about 'kaji o shimasu'? This is a great one! 'Kaji' (家事) refers to household chores. So, 'Kaji o shimasu' means 'I will do housework' or 'I will do chores.' It's super practical for everyday conversations! You might also wonder about the 'o' particle in 'X o shimasu'. This little 'o' (を) is a direct object marker. It tells us that the noun before it is the direct object of the verb 'shimasu.' So, 'Denwa o shimasu' (電話をします) means 'I will make a phone call,' where 'denwa' (phone) is the object of the action 'shimasu' (to do/make). Similarly, 'Undō o shimasu' (運動をします) means 'I will exercise,' with 'undō' (exercise) as the object. Beyond the basic examples like 'Sōji o shimasu' (I will clean) and 'Ryōri o shimasu' (I will cook) which are fantastic starting points, 'shimasu' can be used with many nouns to form verbs! Think about it: 'Paree o shimasu' (パーティーをします) - I will have a party. 'Shigoto o shimasu' (仕事をします) - I will work. 'Geemu o shimasu' (ゲームをします) - I will play a game. See how adaptable it is? It's like a linguistic chameleon! Another common question is 'o shimasu meaning' or 'oshimasu meaning in Japanese'. When 'o' is attached directly to 'shimasu' without a preceding noun, it's usually part of a set phrase or a polite request. However, in the context we're discussing, it almost always comes after the direct object. The plain form of 'shimasu' is 'suru' (する), which is used in informal settings. 'Shimasu' is the polite, non-past form. I remember seeing beautiful illustrations while learning these phrases, like those of a traditional Japanese village, and it really helped cement them in my mind. Visuals make such a difference in a language lesson! So, whether you're trying to say 'I will take a rest' (Kyūkei o shimasu - 休憩をします) or planning to 'study' (Benkyō o shimasu - 勉強をします), understanding 'shimasu' is a fundamental step. Don't be afraid to experiment with it. The more you use it, the more natural it becomes. Keep practicing, and you'll be using 'shimasu' like a native speaker in no time!
