Moms famous fettuccine alfredo, IN A CHEESE WHEEL 🧀
Growing up, my mom always made the best fettuccini Alfredo sauce- it was creamy, cheesy and I didn’t realize until I was an adult how EASY it was to make 😍 so let’s make it but in a 50 lb wheel of parmigiano reggiano cheese !!
What you’ll need:
🧀 1/2 cup butter (I use salted)
🧀 1 cup heavy cream
🧀 1/2 cup freshly grated parm cheese
🧀 salt & pepper (optional)
Cook your pasta el dente. And while it cooks make your sauce. In a sauce pan, on med heat add in your butter, when melted, add in you cream and whisk until smooth. Then add in your parm cheese. Toss in your pasta and enjoy!
Or transfer pasta a cheese wheel to add a richer cheesier flavor! 🤭
Let me know what pasta I should make in the cheese wheel next! 😍
For those wanting to elevate their fettuccine Alfredo experience even more, serving pasta directly from a Parmigiano Reggiano cheese wheel adds an unparalleled depth of flavor. The cheese wheel acts as a natural vessel, combining heat and texture that melts the salty cheese slightly into a luscious sauce. In my experience, stirring freshly cooked pasta inside the hollowed-out wheel intensifies the taste and creates a memorable, cheesy creaminess that store-bought Alfredo sauces simply can't match. To try this at home, choose a quality Parmigiano Reggiano cheese wheel weighing around 40-50 lbs, and hollow it out carefully while preserving a thick enough rim to hold the pasta and sauce. After preparing your classic Alfredo sauce of butter, cream, and grated Parmesan, combine it with al dente fettuccine before transferring into the wheel for tossing. This technique brings a restaurant-style impression to your pasta night, ideal for family dinners or entertaining friends. Additionally, experiment with alternative pasta shapes like penne or rigatoni in the wheel, pairing well with the rich Parmigiano crema that coats every piece. For a personal touch, sprinkle cracked black pepper or fresh parsley on top to balance the richness. Letting the pasta sit briefly inside the cheese wheel allows the sauce to thicken slightly and absorb the nutty, savory essence from the Parmigiano Reggiano. Overall, cooking fettuccine Alfredo in a cheese wheel is an unforgettable culinary adventure that celebrates traditional Italian flavors with a spectacular presentation. Whether you’re a cheese lover or simply looking for a crowd-pleasing dish, this method mixes simplicity with indulgence. Let me know what other pasta recipes you'd love to see elevated by the cheese wheel technique!
