Your next party NEEDS margarita Jell-O shots 🍋🟩
Jell-O shots are the new hottest way to serve up cocktails this summer🍋🟩✨ they are SO easy to make ahead of time and only require a few ingredients!
What you’ll need (makes 24)
🍋🟩 6 limes (juiced and insides removed)
🍋🟩 1 cup water
🍋🟩 2 tbsp unflavored gelatin
🍋🟩 1/2 cup tequila (I used @LALO Tequila
🍋🟩 1/4 cup triple sec
🍋🟩 1/4 cup lime juice - strained from the limes)
🍋🟩 2-3 tbsp agave or honey
🍋🟩 tajin or sugar for garnish after
Cut the limes in half, cut out the flesh as best you can and then juice the flesh in a bowl. Pour 1/2 cup cold water in a bowl, add in gelatin and let sit for 5 min. Heat remaining cup of water until hot (not boiling) and pour over gelatin & mix. Stir in tequila, triple sec, agave, salt. Add half lime cups to muffin tin and pour in margarita mix. Put in the fridge for 4 hours or overnight to set. With a sharp knife, cut lime shells in half and rub each shot in tajin or sugar.
If you want your Jell-O shots a little sweeter, use @Natalie’s Juice marg mix instead of lime juice.
These were SO easy to make and such a hit at any party! Enjoy at summer BBQs, by the pool, girls night in or just because! 🍋🟩🌞

If you're planning a summer party and want to impress your guests with something fun and unique, margarita Jell-O shots are a fantastic option. Beyond their fun presentation and delicious flavor, they have the added benefit of being easy to prepare in advance, allowing you to enjoy your own event without last-minute cocktail mixing. When making these Jell-O shots, I found using fresh limes made a noticeable difference in flavor depth compared to bottled lime juice. Taking the time to carefully scoop out the lime insides and reuse the shells as natural shot cups adds a creative touch that guests love. I recommend investing in a good quality unflavored gelatin to ensure the perfect texture — firm enough to hold shape, but still soft enough to enjoy. For sweetening, agave syrup worked better than honey in my experience, providing a smooth sweetness that balanced the tartness of lime and the kick of tequila. Speaking of tequila, opting for a mid-range quality brand like LALO Tequila results in a smoother shot without overpowering the flavor. A sprinkle of tajin or sugar on the edges of the lime shells adds a festive flair reminiscent of a classic margarita rim. This small garnish elevates the presentation and adds intriguing flavor layers that your guests will appreciate. If you prefer sweeter shots, you can experiment with substituting some or all of the lime juice with margarita mix, but fresh lime juice keeps these shots light and refreshing — ideal for hot summer days. Overall, these margarita Jell-O shots are incredibly versatile — perfect for summer BBQs, poolside hangouts, or casual get-togethers. They also make excellent conversation starters and party favorites that people will ask you to make again. Just remember to keep plenty chilled in the fridge for a few hours or overnight before serving. For those looking to expand their Jell-O shot repertoire, consider trying similar recipes featuring other cocktail favorites like mojitos or piña coladas, adapting the gelatin and juices accordingly. The key is balancing alcohol content so the gelatin sets properly while maintaining bold flavors. Enjoy your next summer event with these fun, colorful, and easy-to-make margarita Jell-O shots — a sure way to bring festive vibes to any gathering!
