ALDI Grocery Shopping Haul!!
Needed to hit Aldi for some steaks and potatoes but I can never seem to get out of there with just stopping to get one thing!! #lemon8food #lemon8challenge #groceryhauls #aldi #steak @Lemon8 Food
Okay, so who else goes into Aldi for 'just a few things' and somehow leaves with a full cart and a huge smile? That's me every single time! My recent trip was no exception – I went in with steaks on my mind, and let's just say I found some amazing deals. But beyond those juicy cuts, I've discovered so many other gems that I just have to share, especially if you're wondering what truly shines at Aldi and what you might want to think twice about. First, let's talk about the meat, because that's often a big question mark for new Aldi shoppers: 'Is Aldi meat any good?' From my personal experience, yes, absolutely! I've had fantastic luck with their fresh meats, especially the organic grass-fed ground beef and, of course, their steaks. I often grab larger packs of steaks when they're on sale. A little trick I've learned is to get them home, portion them out, and then vacuum seal all of them. This keeps them fresh for much longer in the freezer, and I can just pull out exactly what I need for dinner. The quality for the price is seriously unbeatable. I've found their pork cuts, like tenderloins, to be excellent too. While I haven't tried every single cut, the consistent quality of their premium red meats has made them a staple in my weekly shop. Now, onto another frequently asked question: 'What about frozen cod at Aldi?' Their frozen seafood section is actually quite impressive. I've bought their frozen wild-caught cod fillets multiple times, and they're a fantastic, affordable option for a quick and healthy meal. They thaw well and hold up perfectly whether you're baking, pan-frying, or even air-frying them with a simple seasoning. I've also enjoyed their frozen salmon fillets, which are equally convenient and delicious. It's a great way to incorporate more fish into your diet without breaking the bank. Beyond the protein, Aldi truly excels in several other categories. Their produce, especially the organic selection, is often much cheaper than other stores and surprisingly fresh. I always stock up on their berries, avocados, and seasonal fruits. Another regular in my cart is their wide variety of sparkling water – the flavored ones are brilliant and a much healthier alternative to soda, for a fraction of the cost of big brands. Don't overlook their dairy and dairy-free alternatives; their unsweetened almond milk and Greek yogurts are top-notch. When it comes to 'what to avoid,' I wouldn't say there's anything explicitly "bad," but rather some items where personal preference or brand loyalty might play a role. For instance, while their coffee can be a hit for some, I personally tend to stick to my usual brand for that. Similarly, some of their processed snacks might not be for everyone, but that's really a matter of taste. My advice is always to try new things because you might just discover a new favorite! Aldi has a rotating 'Aldi Finds' aisle which is a treasure hunt in itself for unique seasonal items, kitchen gadgets, and gourmet snacks. Just be prepared to grab what you like, because these items often don't stick around long! Overall, Aldi offers incredible value without compromising on quality for most of their staples. It's about knowing what to look for and being open to trying their store brands. Happy shopping, fellow Aldi enthusiasts!
