I haven’t been to the gym in Months

I haven’t been to the gym in 5 1/2 months.

I got an iud back in april and it wrecked me. I was in so much pain i couldn’t even walk. I lost all motivation to go to the gym and lost all of my progress. I put on 20 pounds in the span of two months. I had never felt so out of control in my body. I started only eating what i deemed was “healthy” foods, trying to cut out everything. I wasn’t happy. I stopped taking medications because i was afraid of gaining weight.

I just started going back to the gym this month and it’s been scary. I have been having a hard time adjusting to my new body, but i want to get out of the mindset of it’s not good to gain weight.

i have been actively working on my attitude about body positivity. Maybe this could help someone out going through the same thing. So here are some things i’ve been doing to be ok with not looking how i used to look.

1. Not weighing myself every time i go to the gym. Not putting so much pressure on losing the weight but going to the gym to be active and love my body.

2. Not restricting what i eat and not labeling any one food as bad. I have been trying to have a better balance of all foods. When i eat any meal i try to incorporate 3 different food groups. I have enjoyed eating way more than stressing about what is “healthy” and what’s not.

3. Being kinder to myself. Instead of picking at myself in the mirror. I have tried to find 3 positive things i like about the way i look when i see myself.

bottom line is it’s ok to gain or lose weight. It’s ok for your body to change. it’s ok to feel sad about it too! but you’ve got this and you are doing great!
