Great one fallow
Getting a Great One Fallow Deer in TheHunter: Call of the Wild is truly a monumental achievement! I know the grind can be real, and for many, it feels like an impossible dream. But let me tell you, after countless hours pouring into my fresh account grind, the moment I saw that 'CONFIRM TROPHY' screen for my Great One Fallow, it was absolutely electrifying. It really cemented why I love this game so much. My journey to this magnificent 10 Fabled Fallow wasn't easy, but I learned a ton along the way that I hope can help you too. First off, patience is key. This isn't a quick hunt; it's a dedicated effort in population management and strategic harvesting. I focused heavily on rotating through specific need zones, primarily drink zones, on my preferred map. The idea is to clear out lower-scoring males to encourage higher-tier deer to spawn. It's a bit of a numbers game, but incredibly rewarding when you start seeing those larger racks. Don't get discouraged if you're not seeing diamonds right away – every harvest contributes to the bigger picture. When it came to my loadout, I relied quite a bit on my trusty GUNs, specifically the .375 and the .308. For Fallow Deer, these calibers offer excellent penetration and stopping power, ensuring clean kills and preserving trophy integrity. I also carried a .45 ROLLESTON FRONTI or a .45 COLT FULL METAL JACK for close-range encounters or ethical harvesting of smaller animals to maintain the herd. Having the right tools for the job makes all the difference, especially when you finally spot that unique Great One. The moment of truth usually came for me during the early morning or late afternoon drink times. Spotting a Great One is unmistakable; their rack is simply massive and unlike anything else. Once I had eyes on it, careful stalking was paramount. Wind direction, cover, and approach angle all play a critical role. I always aimed for a lung shot to ensure a quick and humane harvest, and thankfully, my choice of weapon always delivered. Hearing that 'trophy rating confirmed' sound, then seeing 'Great One' pop up, is a feeling I won't soon forget. It made all the 'fresh acc grind' worth it. So, for anyone out there still hunting their Great One Fallow Deer, keep at it! It's a marathon, not a sprint. Focus on herd management, choose your weapons wisely – like the reliable .375 and .308 – and most importantly, enjoy the hunt. The satisfaction of confirming that ultimate trophy is an experience every Call of the Wild player should aim for. Big thanks to my Twitch community (COTW PONYO) too, for all the support during my hunts!
