Book Check-In

It's so interesting to see that I'm ahead on my 2024 Reading Challenge, especially when I often feel like the slowest reader ever! It just goes to show that consistency and finding the right books truly make a difference. For anyone else out there who loves the idea of reading but sometimes struggles to get through a book, or who feels intimidated by massive reading goals, I totally get it! Falling in love with reading isn't just about the number of books you read; it's about the journey and the stories that capture your heart. I remember starting my own reading journey, and honestly, sometimes it felt like a chore. But once I started focusing on what genuinely excited me, everything changed. For example, diving into something like my current read, 'Reckless,' a spicy fantasy, just sweeps me away! Don't be afraid to explore different genres. Maybe you'll find yourself engrossed in a gripping romance like 'It Ends with Us,' or perhaps a powerful story like 'Powerless' or 'Some Girls Do' will resonate deeply with you. The key is to find your niche, what makes you forget you're even reading. If you're a slow reader like me, don't let it discourage you. Reading is not a race! I've found that setting small, achievable goals helps immensely. Instead of aiming for a chapter, try just 10 or 15 pages a day. Those pages really add up! Also, try to create a dedicated reading time. For me, it's often right before bed, or sometimes during my lunch break. Just a few minutes here and there can make all the difference. Audiobooks are also a fantastic option for getting more stories into your life, especially during commutes or chores. Another trick I've learned is to not be afraid to abandon a book that isn't working for you. Life's too short to read something you're not enjoying! There are so many amazing books out there, and finding the right one is like finding a new friend. Participating in reading challenges, like my 2024 Reading Challenge where I'm aiming for 20 books, can be incredibly motivating. It gives you a gentle push without feeling overwhelming. Seeing that '16 of 20 books read' and being '4 books ahead of schedule' really boosts my morale! And finally, sharing your reading journey with others, whether it's on Lemon8 or with friends, makes it even more enjoyable. Getting recommendations, discussing plot twists, and just celebrating the joy of reading together is wonderful.
