One Last Book Finished in February

The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow

✨ 4/5 stars ✨

This was an interesting story of “I’ll love you in every lifetime”. The more time travel that occurred, the more complex the story got, with different variations of the story and endings. I enjoyed the audiobook while also reading the physical book - I think it added to the experience. The audiobook narration performance was great!

... Read moreReading The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow was a captivating journey into a complex narrative that intertwines love and time travel. What truly stood out to me was how the story handles the concept of "I'll love you in every lifetime"—it’s a beautiful exploration of eternal love that transcends variants of time and reality. The way Harrow crafted multiple story variations and endings kept me engaged and eager to understand how each path affected the characters' destinies. I found combining the physical book with the audiobook version enriched my experience significantly. Listening to a skilled narrator dramatize the scenes while following the text allowed me to appreciate the emotional nuances and the atmospheric tone of the story. The narration brought depth to the characters’ voices and heightened the tension in key moments, making the story feel even more alive. Time travel as a literary device can sometimes feel confusing or convoluted, but Harrow manages to maintain clarity while layering complexity. This balance made me reflect on how different choices could lead to vastly different outcomes in life—and love. For readers who enjoy both speculative fiction and heartfelt romance, The Everlasting offers an intriguing blend that satisfies both genres. If you’re considering picking up this book, I recommend giving the audiobook a try alongside the physical copy. The dual format can deepen your immersion and enjoyment. Sharing my reading experience here also reminds me how important it is to explore different ways to engage with stories beyond just reading—sometimes listening adds that extra dimension of connection. Overall, The Everlasting left me thinking about love’s endurance and the paths our lives might take across time.
