It's not just about lesson plans; it's about managing JULY, AUGUST, SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, NOVEMBER, DECEMBER – the entire academic year! Having a clear overview of upcoming events, deadlines, and student progress truly helps alleviate stress. But beyond the essential planner, what other 'teacher toys' do I rely on to keep my classroom running smoothly and make my teaching life more enjoyable? For me, 'teacher toys' aren't just literal playthings; they're any tools or resources that simplify tasks, boost engagement, or bring a little joy to the demanding world of education. For instance, I've found that a good set of colourful pens, highlighters, and sticky notes are simple yet incredibly powerful. They make my weekly planning sessions more visually appealing and help important reminders pop out. Another 'toy' I adore is a small, portable laminator. It might sound mundane, but being able to quickly laminate flashcards, classroom labels, or even student work (especially for those with special needs) saves so much time and keeps materials durable. Similarly, a timer for transitions and activities keeps the day flowing smoothly, making it a stress-free experience for both me and my students. And let's not forget comfort! A really good ergonomic mouse or a comfortable cushion for my desk chair might not be a 'toy,' but it's a tool that helps me feel better throughout the long school day, contributing to overall job satisfaction. Ultimately, whether it’s a meticulously designed planner that tracks every detail from a student's birthday to their specific learning requirements, or a simple set of vibrant markers, these 'teacher toys' are invaluable. They empower us to be more efficient, creative, and present in the classroom. They transform daunting tasks into manageable ones, allowing us to focus on what truly matters: making a positive impact on our students' lives.
