Writing Update
Too tired to function, but the desire and drive still pushes strong.
As writers, we have to listen to our natural bodies the same way we listen to these pushy characters living rent-free in our heads. Just like some characters take over the plot, sometimes our bodies have to take the pilot seat and force us to rest.
It doesn’t mean you’re failing. Doesn’t mean you’re a quitter. It means that you aren’t at your best and it’s no fault of yours. You’re not behind. You need rest… uh oh… I may be talking to myself here. 😉
Anyway, write and live well. If your body says take a break, it’s not to punish you or put you behind schedule. A break means resetting your creativity. I didn’t say be lazy. “Oh no! I’m sleepy today! Guess I’m not working!” Girl, stop. 🛑 That’s cheating yourself. If your body says “get some rest,” do it. That’s a bodily reset that will benefit your writing in the long run. Plus, who doesn’t appreciate a good nap every once in a while?!
How do you ensure you’re not overdoing it even in the midst of deadlines and due dates?
