UGC: how I make money from it and HOW! 💭💸

Short answer:

YES! Social Media DOES pay.

Long answer:

Finding ways to make money from social media hasn’t been easy. Especially being a small creator!

BUT, lucky for you I’ve listed some apps/websites that I've personally used where YOU can get PAID for your work! 💰

• weSponsored (app) : MUST have an Amazon account for this one! you can apply to different sponsorships, wait for approval (can take weeks), then just create content once you receive your product! Payment turnaround time can be up to NET 30 days, payments are made via PayPal.

• Aspire (website) : you can apply to different briefs, wait for approval (can take a few days), once you receive your product(s) you can create content and post on social media if it’s required! Payment turnaround time can be up to NET 30 days, payments are made via PayPal.

• Cohley (website) : you can apply to different briefs, wait for approval (can take days), your following may be a factor in the approval process, create content once your product arrives! Payment turnaround time can be up to NET 30 days, payments are made via PayPal.

These apps/websites offer you the opportunity to get paid for making content you sometimes don’t even need to post to your own socials!💸

... Read moreOkay, so you've seen how social media can totally pay off for UGC, and I've shared some of my go-to platforms like weSponsored, Aspire, and Cohley. But let's get real – just signing up isn't enough to see those $500 or even $53 payments rolling in. As a small creator, I've learned a few tricks to actually get approved for those dream collaborations and maximize my earnings. First off, making your profile shine is crucial. Think of it like your digital resume for brands. Even if you don't have millions of followers, brands are looking for authenticity and quality. Make sure your profile pics are clear, your bio clearly states you're a UGC creator (or aspiring one!), and you have a few examples of your work. This doesn't mean you need paid campaigns; even high-quality reviews of products you genuinely love, shot on your phone, can act as a mini-portfolio. I often start by creating content for products I already own, just to show brands my style and how I can showcase items naturally, whether it's a new beauty product or even something as simple as my favorite mouthwash. When it comes to applying for briefs, don't just hit 'apply' and hope for the best. Read the brief carefully! Brands want to know you understand their needs. I always try to personalize my applications a little, mentioning why I genuinely connect with their product. For example, if it's a hair product, I might mention how it fits into my specific hair care routine. This extra step really shows you're invested, not just spamming applications. It's about quality over quantity, especially when you're just starting out and trying to get your foot in the door with alternatives to more competitive platforms. Once you get approved, the real fun begins! Remember those payments like $375 for a beauty product shoot or $500 for a specific campaign? Those come from delivering exactly what the brand asked for, and then some. Pay attention to the deliverables: how many videos, photos, specific talking points. I've found that over-delivering slightly – maybe an extra photo or a slightly longer video if it feels natural – can make a huge difference in getting repeat business or positive feedback. And always, always meet your deadlines. Communication is key, especially with payment terms like NET 30. Knowing when to expect your PayPal deposit helps with planning! And don't put all your eggs in one basket. While weSponsored, Aspire, and Cohley are fantastic, I also explore other avenues. Sometimes I'll directly reach out to small businesses whose products I genuinely admire, offering my UGC services. You can also look into creative marketplaces where you can list your services. The goal is to diversify your income streams so you're not solely reliant on one platform. Experimenting with different types of products, from that vibrant hair spray to those luxurious pink and red beauty creams, also keeps things fresh and expands your portfolio. It's a journey, not a sprint. There will be rejections, slow periods, and times when approval takes weeks. But staying persistent, refining your craft, and always looking for new opportunities will help you unlock the full earning potential of social media as a UGC creator. Keep creating, keep learning, and those payments will follow!
