PHLEBOTOMY SCHOOL? šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«šŸ’‰

OKAY SOOOOO…

Phlebotomy school was such a unique and rewarding experience! 🤩

Not only did I get to practice something I truly enjoy, but I also had the opportunity to bond with amazing classmates who shared the same passion. The hands-on learning, practicing on real people (and being practiced on lol!) made it all the more memorable. Grateful for this journey and all the skills I’ve gained along the way! I now know so much more and I’m so good at it!

If you have a passion for something, go for it. GO FOR IT!!

What are your thoughts on getting poked a bunch of times? 😭

And do you think you could handle poking people without getting nervous? 🫠

... Read moreSo, you're inspired to pursue phlebotomy after reading about my journey? That's fantastic! It's truly a fulfilling career, and if you have a passion for helping people and working in healthcare, I can't recommend it enough. Many of you might be wondering, 'How do I actually get started?' or 'Where can I get my phlebotomy certification?' Let me share some insights based on my experience and what I learned along the way to help you take that exciting first step. Getting your phlebotomy certification is a crucial step that demonstrates your competency and professionalism to future employers and patients. While specific requirements can vary by state or region, obtaining a national phlebotomy certification is highly recommended and often preferred by employers across the country. The most common certifications you'll encounter are the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) and Registered Phlebotomy Technician (RPT). You'll want to research which certification body is most recognized in your area or for your specific career aspirations. When I was looking for where to get my phlebotomy certification, I focused on accredited programs that offered comprehensive hands-on training. These can typically be found at community colleges, vocational schools, and specialized healthcare training centers. For instance, my own Certified Phlebotomy Technician certificate came from a program similar to what NHCO offers, which provided an excellent foundation. Look for programs that include both thorough classroom instruction and a significant amount of clinical practice. This practical experience is absolutely invaluable – trust me, it makes all the difference when you're actually holding those blood collection tubes for the first time! Your training will be comprehensive, covering everything from basic anatomy and physiology related to the circulatory system to proper venipuncture techniques, safety protocols, and handling various specimens. You'll spend a lot of time practicing blood draws on training mannequins and then, under careful supervision, on real people. This is where you truly build confidence and refine your skills. Mastering the use of different types of blood collection tubes for various laboratory tests will become second nature as you progress through your program. After successfully completing your coursework and required clinical hours, you'll typically sit for a national certification exam to officially become a certified phlebotomy technician. My biggest tip for success? Embrace every opportunity for hands-on learning! Don't be afraid to ask questions, practice as much as you can, and learn from every experience. Studying for the national phlebotomy certification exam can feel daunting, but there are many excellent resources available, including study guides, practice tests, and review courses. Remember the incredible feeling of accomplishment when you finally hold that certificate in phlebotomy – it's worth all the hard work and dedication! If I could do it, you absolutely can too. Go for it and chase your passion!
