Did that hurt your career?

I'm getting burnt out, not because of work being tough, but other matters in life, and it’s effecting my work. I procrastinate more, and don't enjoy my work anymore. I'm thinking about taking 4 months off to travel and de-stress...but worried that it'll hurt career prospects especially with the way the industry is right now.

Looking to see if others have taken time off work for significant duration (4-12 months) and how was it getting back? did you regret it?

It's essential to consider both the personal benefits and potential career implications. Many professionals experience burnout, which can lead to decreased productivity and overall dissatisfaction. A break can provide much-needed time for self-reflection, rejuvenation, and skill enhancement. Research indicates that employees who take time off to travel or pursue personal interests return with increased motivation and fresh perspectives. However, staying in touch with industry trends during your break can help maintain your relevance. Consider upskilling through online courses or attending virtual networking events to ease the transition back. Additionally, openly communicating with your employer about your intentions to take a break can build trust and understanding. Transparency can often alleviate concerns about job security or career progression during your absence. Balancing personal wellness with career aspirations requires careful planning, but the positive outcomes can greatly outweigh the temporary setbacks.

I hope you can destress and relax. Taking just a day off could also help if it allows you
