Becoming more myself has changed my relationships🤍
Navigating Relationship Shifts While Sharing My Journey 🤍
As I’ve been posting my journey and my thoughts online, I’ve noticed a shift in some of my relationships.
Some people have been incredibly supportive — asking questions, cheering me on, genuinely curious about my growth. And then there are others who feel more distant. They only seem to reach out when they want the tea on something I’ve shared, not necessarily to check in or connect.
At first, it left me feeling confused. I wasn’t sure if I was doing something wrong or if I should pull back.
But I’m learning that growth changes dynamics. When you start showing up more honestly, it can highlight who’s aligned with your evolution — and who’s more comfortable with the old version of you.
Not every relationship is meant to grow in the same direction, and that doesn’t always mean there’s bad blood. Sometimes it just means boundaries shift, energy shifts, and access changes.
Right now, I’m choosing to move with grace. To appreciate the support that feels genuine, and to stop over-explaining myself to those who only show up out of curiosity, not care.
Growth can be uncomfortable — especially when it changes the way people relate to you. But I’m learning to trust that what’s meant to stay will stay.

From my experience, this revelation can be both empowering and bittersweet because it challenges the comfort of familiar ties but opens doors to more authentic connections.
When I started openly sharing my personal growth journey, I noticed that some friends became more curious and engaged, genuinely celebrating my progress and asking supportive questions. Those were the relationships that thrived because they aligned with my new, more authentic self. On the other hand, a few people seemed to distance themselves, reaching out only when they wanted to know the latest updates or 'tea' rather than to connect meaningfully. At first, this was confusing and hurtful.
What helped me most was understanding that growth naturally shifts relationship dynamics. It’s not about losing people but rather recognizing when boundaries shift or when energies no longer match. Some relationships are meant to evolve together, while others gracefully fade or adjust their roles in our lives. Choosing to trust this process has allowed me to move with grace, appreciating the genuine support and not over-explaining to those less engaged.
If you’re navigating similar changes, remember: discomfort in growth is normal, and it often reveals who is truly with you on the journey. Embracing this can help you invest in deeper, more nourishing relationships. Growth is a gradual revelation—sometimes it brings distance, sometimes closeness, but always authenticity.
