What I’ll Be Reading During Lent.

I know it seems like a lot but I want to learn more and connect with the Lord on a deeper level. In the Bible I’ll be focusing on the Gospel of Luke and the beginning of John.

I also want to go to adoration weekly. I have been once and it was a very reverent experience.

Father D is doing Stations of the Cross every Friday. I would like to go weekly.

I would also like to put things in the parish food bank that you normally would not get. A treat of some kind, I am thinking of something that you would not need eggs for.

We shall see how my body and mind take to all of this. The Lord doesn’t expect perfection and that’s one thing I need to remind myself of.

... Read moreDuring Lent, I’ve found that setting specific spiritual goals really enriches my journey. Besides reading the Gospels of Luke and John, I love incorporating devotional books like "The St. Catherine Lenten Journey Devotional for Women 2026" and "The Case for Jesus" by Brant Pitre. These resources offer biblical and historical insights that enhance my understanding of Christ’s passion and sacrifice. Weekly adoration has become a sacred time for me. When I visited for the first time, the reverent atmosphere allowed me to connect with God profoundly and reflect quietly away from daily distractions. Attending the Stations of the Cross every Friday with Father D has also grounded my faith in community and tradition, making the journey through Lent a shared, powerful experience. I also enjoy finding ways to give back during Lent. The idea of donating treats to the parish food bank—items that don’t require eggs to prepare—adds a thoughtful touch to support those in need. Small acts like these remind me that Lent isn’t just about personal sacrifice but also about extending love and kindness. Above all, I remind myself that Lent doesn’t demand perfection. It’s about progress and openness to spiritual growth. Balancing reading, prayer, service, and rest helps me keep my mind and body engaged without feeling overwhelmed. This holistic approach makes Lent a truly meaningful season of connection with the Lord and community.
