... Read moreAs teachers, our mornings can feel like a marathon before the actual school day even begins, right? I've found that having a solid, yet flexible, morning routine is key to starting the day feeling calm and prepared. It’s not always glamorous, but it’s definitely my realistic teacher morning routine, especially with just a day and a half left until a much-needed break!
My day always kicks off with a moment for myself. First, it’s all about skincare. I keep my routine pretty simple but effective, using a few go-to products like my favorite makeup remover wipes, a hydrating toner, and a good lotion. After that, it’s onto a quick makeup application – just enough to feel put-together, nothing too heavy. Then comes the outfit decision! I love feeling comfortable yet stylish at school. Today, I actually captured a quick mirror selfie in my favorite green pleated shirt and light-wash jeans. Fun fact: I even hemmed these jeans myself to get the perfect fit! And of course, no outfit is complete without a spritz of my 'fresh cream' perfume – it just adds that little extra touch of joy. Before heading out, I always do a quick 'fit check' in the mirror, making sure everything looks just right with my black sneakers.
Next up, fuel for the day! My first brewed cup of coffee in my festive red and white checkered mug (yes, it has a little Christmas tree on it!) is non-negotiable. While that's brewing, I'm usually multitasking. This morning, I prepped raw chicken breasts, baby potatoes, and baby carrots in my slow cooker for a super easy dinner later. It's such a time-saver on busy weeknights. I also make sure to pack my breakfast, snacks, and lunch. Today's haul included a fresh bagel, some fruit, a breakfast bar, and a couple of canned drinks to keep me hydrated throughout the day. It saves money and ensures I'm eating well, even when I'm constantly on the go.
A unique part of my morning today was getting ready to surprise my students! My large tote bag was filled with red and white items – stockings that came in yesterday for them! It’s those little things that make being a teacher so rewarding, and making sure they're packed and ready to go brought a big smile to my face, even before the sun was fully up.
On my way out, I grabbed my black travel mug, filled with that essential coffee. Stepping onto the paved surface, I noticed the last few autumn leaves still clinging on, a pretty reminder to appreciate the small moments. My biggest tip for fellow teachers is to find those little pockets of joy and efficiency in your morning. Whether it's a special coffee mug, a comfy outfit you love, or prepping meals ahead of time, these small habits can make a huge difference in setting a positive tone for your entire day. It’s all about finding what works for you to create a morning routine that feels less like a rush and more like a gentle start to an impactful day.
Oh my gosh, I love the fit!!!
