If you have ever dreamed of stepping into a Christmas movie, this is it. Every inch of the city glows with twinkling lights, the air smells of cinnamon and mulled wine, carols and music echo through the cobblestone streets.
Take your time to wander the entire city, stopping at all the markets including Place Kleber, Place de la Cathedrale, and Petite France ( my personal favs!).
Make sure to try the local treats like the vin chaud (mulled wine), Bredele cookies, raclette, and tarte flambee.
Tips for your visit:
💶 Bring cash - a lot of vendors don’t take credit cards.
🧣Dress warm - bring plenty of extra layers for after the sun sets.
🏩Hotels can be quite pricey during the holiday season. We stayed in Basel, Switzerland for half the price, and you can take a train to Strasbourg in under an hour and a half. (As a bonus, Basel has some beautiful markets to visit as well).
🎄Make sure to visit the markets in both the day and once the sun sets. It’s a completely different vibe during both, and neither are to be missed.
🇫🇷 Wander without a plan. The best magic happens when you turn down an unassuming cobblestone streets.
By the end of the night, you’ll completely understand why they call Strasbourg the Capital of Christmas.
