Under $25 in NYC: Flower stall in McCarren

Every Saturday during the farmers market in McCarren there is a beautiful flower stall. They sell amazing selection of flowers for great prices!

... Read moreOkay, seriously, if you're in NYC and love fresh flowers but don't want to break the bank, you HAVE to check out the flower stall at McCarren Farmers Market. I stumbled upon it last Saturday, and it's become my absolute favorite spot. I used to think getting beautiful blooms meant spending a fortune, especially after looking at typical 'flower district NYC prices,' but this place totally changed my mind! Every Saturday, rain or shine, this incredible stall pops up, brimming with the most vibrant and fresh selections. I was eyeing these gorgeous bundles of sunflowers and bright orange marigolds – they were practically glowing! What really blew me away was the price list. You can get stunning bouquets of lisianthus, zinnia, celosia, and even big, fluffy hydrangeas, all for under $25. Seriously, where else in New York City can you find such quality at these prices? It's directly from Bucker Farms in New Jersey, which I think makes a huge difference in freshness and cost. I love going early, right when the market opens. That's when the selection is at its peak, and you can really take your time choosing. They have so many varieties, from classic roses (sometimes!) to more unique seasonal offerings. Last time, I picked up a bunch of vibrant celosia that lasted over a week! It’s not just about the price; the quality is genuinely top-notch. Comparing this to a regular 'flower shop banner' storefront, the experience is so much more personal and authentic. You're supporting local farms, and the flowers just feel more alive. Plus, the whole atmosphere of the 'mccarren greenmarket' adds to the charm. After picking out my flowers, I usually grab some fresh produce and a coffee, making it a perfect Saturday morning ritual. I’ve also learned a few tricks! When you get your flowers home, make sure to trim the stems at an angle and put them in fresh water with the little food packet they sometimes provide. For delicate blooms like lisianthus, a cool spot away from direct sunlight really helps them last. I've even used their mixed bouquets to create stunning centerpieces for dinner parties, and they always get compliments. It’s amazing what you can do with a budget-friendly find from the McCarren Farmers Market. If you're looking to brighten up your home or surprise someone with a thoughtful gift without the hefty price tag, this is your spot. Don't miss it next time you're in the area!
