My rating system 💫
When it comes to evaluating books, having a clear and personal rating system can make the reading experience more enjoyable and organized. I developed my own scale which ranges from 'DNF' (Did Not Finish) to 'God Tier,' reflecting not just whether I liked a book, but how it impacted me. Starting with DNF, this rating is reserved for books that were a struggle to get through and didn't hold my interest—sometimes I simply couldn't continue past a certain page count. This helps save time and energy for books that truly engage me. If a book was 'meh,' it means it was neither particularly good nor bad. While I don't recommend these books, they can still serve as casual reading for those interested in the genre without high expectations. A solid four-star rating symbolizes books I enjoyed and would recommend to others. These are well-written, engaging reads that provide a rewarding experience. My favorite category, 'Obsessed,' is reserved for books I rave about to others and happily reread. These stories often leave a strong emotional impression or have unforgettable characters. Finally, 'God Tier' represents utter perfection in my eyes—books that shape my personality and are so impactful that I’d buy multiple copies. Examples include beloved titles like "The Games Gods Play," which have left a lasting imprint. By clearly defining what each rating means, I can communicate my thoughts better to fellow readers and help guide them toward books that match their preferences. It also allows me to reflect on my reading habits and discover what types of stories resonate most with me. I encourage other readers to try creating their own rating system; it adds a fun and personalized element to your reading journey.
