Great Deku Tree 2 in 1 Lego set: Ocarina of Time
Building the Great Deku Tree 2 in 1 Lego set. The set is 2500 pc and the Ocarina of Time version took about six hours. #zelda #zeldaocarinaoftime #lego
Building the Great Deku Tree LEGO set was such a nostalgic trip, it got me thinking about all the iconic elements of Ocarina of Time, especially the creatures that made the Kokiri Forest feel so alive. And who could forget the Deku Scrubs? They might seem like minor enemies, but they're absolutely legendary in their own right! For those who might not know, Deku Scrubs are plant-based creatures, often found burrowed in the ground, popping up to spit nuts at Link. They're usually found in forest areas, most famously around the Great Deku Tree and throughout Kokiri Forest. Their signature move is to hide in their plant-like bodies and shoot Deku Nuts. As a player, you quickly learn their pattern: pop up, spit, hide. The trick to defeating them, especially in Ocarina of Time, is usually to deflect their own Deku Nuts back at them with your shield, which stuns them. Once stunned, you can usually approach and attack them with your sword. Sometimes, if you approach carefully, they might even offer a hint or sell you something before burrowing away! What makes Deku Scrubs so memorable? For me, it's their distinct sound effects and their quirky, often grumpy, personalities. They're not particularly threatening, but they add so much character to the early game. They act as a sort of training enemy, teaching you basic combat mechanics like using your shield. Encountering them always brings a smile to my face, reminding me of Link's first adventures as a child. When I was assembling the different sections of the Great Deku Tree LEGO bricks, I couldn't help but imagine a tiny Deku Scrub hiding among the roots or popping out from behind a leaf. Even though this specific LEGO set might not include a dedicated Deku Scrub minifigure, their presence is so intrinsically linked to the Great Deku Tree and the overall magic of Ocarina of Time. The ELD LEGO build truly captures the essence of that world. It's the environment where Link first learns to be a hero, where the Deku Scrubs are just a part of the vibrant, sometimes challenging, ecosystem. Thinking about the different types, there are also Business Scrubs who sell items, and even Mad Scrubs who just shoot nuts relentlessly without giving hints. The variety keeps things interesting! They're a classic example of how even minor enemies in The Legend of Zelda series contribute significantly to the world-building and player experience. They're more than just obstacles; they're part of the fabric of Hyrule. So, next time you're playing Ocarina of Time or admiring your Zelda LEGO display, take a moment to appreciate the humble, yet iconic, Deku Scrub!
