Can We Talk About The Cheating In Challenges?

I’ve been debating whether to say this but is anyone else getting discouraged from participating in challenges lately?

It feels like some people are using AI to generate large amounts of content, running multiple accounts or finding ways around the rules, and nothing is being done about it. Meanwhile, people who are actually putting time and effort into creating original content are competing against accounts that seem to be gaming the system.

The part that bothers me isn’t even that people are winning. It’s that when cheating becomes obvious and there’s no response it makes the challenges feel less meaningful.

Challenges are supposed to encourage creativity, engagement and community. But when people feel like the rules only apply to some participants, it can make others wonder why they’re putting in the effort at all.

I genuinely enjoy participating, but I’d love to see more transparency and moderation so everyone feels like they’re competing on a level playing field.

What do you think? Have challenges become less motivating because of this or am I overthinking it? #letschat #Lemon8 #lemon8challenge #AskLemon8 #creatorsearchinsights

... Read moreFrom my experience, the rise of AI-powered content and multiple account usage has indeed changed the landscape of online challenges. I remember joining a summer nails challenge where participants posted stunning designs, but as I scrolled through entries, some content seemed suspiciously repetitive or too polished, hinting at AI or pre-made templates. It’s discouraging when you invest hours crafting unique posts and see others seemingly bypassing effort through shortcuts. Transparency and stricter moderation would greatly improve the challenge experience. Platforms could use better detection tools for AI-generated content and implement clearer guidelines about account limitations. It’s also helpful when organizers encourage community reporting of suspicious entries — this fosters a collaborative effort to maintain fairness. Participation in challenges is meant to spark creativity and connection, but when the playing field feels uneven, motivation dwindles. I’ve found that when moderators actively respond to concerns and visibly enforce rules, the community becomes more engaged and loyal. Ultimately, while technology advances the possibilities for content creation, we need a balance that rewards originality and hard work. Sharing these concerns openly, like this, is important for building supportive communities where challenges remain fun, fair, and fulfilling for everyone involved.

I agree. I haven’t participating in hardly anymore because I feel the same. It’s not as fun anymore. I used to love doing the challenges I was interested in and connecting with others but even that’s been so different lately. It’s really obvious and easy to tell once these accounts are gaming the system.

Oh yeah people steal content and don’t even follow the rules yet still get prizes. Then you have those of us that follow the rules and never get a prize because they claim the content doesn’t follow the rules when it does. Help center doesn’t do squat to help either 🫤 incredibly frustrating and discouraging
