SOCIAL MEDIA IS TAKING MY TIME AWAY

Does anyone have any tips or tricks to limit my use? Or should I just delete the most used apps? I spend most of my free time on tiktok. I also use it as my decompresser when I get home from work. But I feel like I’m just allowing so much time for my brain to be off and essentially rotting my brain daily. Please help!

... Read moreSocial media platforms like TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook can easily consume our time and attention, often leading to feelings of guilt and regret. Experts suggest various strategies to combat excessive screen time. Setting specific time limits for app use can be a practical first step. For instance, many phones have built-in screen time tracking features that alert you when you've surpassed your allotted time. Another approach is to identify trigger situations, like boredom or stress, that cause excessive scrolling; replacing these behaviors with engaging activities such as reading, exercising, or pursuing hobbies can be beneficial. Additionally, consider deleting or rearranging apps on your smartphone to make them less accessible. The 'out of sight, out of mind' philosophy can work wonders. Joining social media detox challenges or support groups online might help reinforce your commitment. Remember that social media can serve as a valuable tool when used mindfully, so it may be helpful to curate your feeds to follow accounts that inspire or motivate you rather than ones that cause anxiety. By implementing these practical tactics, you can foster a healthier relationship with social media and reclaim valuable time for more rewarding pursuits.
