Meet GRACE! 🐶

We recently picked up our first foster dog, a little Chihuahua mix and will be helping her through her journey to find a forever home! Grace has been through a rough life in such a short time and needs to learn how to trust humans and other dogs without fear.

Our major goal right now is to slowly find out how to make this dog happy and feel safe so we can know how to train her to not be aggressive. We will not be introducing the pets just yet and instead learn Grace’s puppy routine as well as what this tiny Chihuahua’s daily needs are!

If you’d like to know more about how to adopt Grace and details about her dog adoption, please DM me or @saltwatersoulsrescue for info!

From my experience with foster dogs, gradual socialization is key to helping fearful dogs build confidence. For example, when Grace first arrived, ensuring she had a quiet space to decompress helped her feel secure and reduced her anxiety-induced shivering. Resource guarding is a common behavior amongst rescue dogs who have had to fend for themselves, but with consistent positive reinforcement and managing her environment carefully, it can be mitigated. I've found that feeding Grace separately and providing her with plenty of chew toys helps her feel less anxious about her food and possessions. Introducing Grace slowly to other pets is also crucial. Like the way Grace is being kept apart from other dogs initially, this respects her need to process her past trauma before engaging in social interactions. During this time, monitoring her behavior around different stimuli and rewarding calm behavior lays a strong foundation for long-term trust. Additionally, keeping a regular puppy routine — including feeding times, walks, and play — offers predictability, which fosters a sense of safety in foster dogs with traumatic pasts. If you are considering fostering a dog like Grace, prepare for an emotional yet deeply rewarding experience. Your consistent love and care can transform a scared rescue into a happy, adoptable companion. For anyone interested in adopting or learning more about Grace’s journey, reaching out to rescue organizations like Saltwater Souls Dog Rescue can provide valuable insights and support. Together, we can make a difference one paw at a time.

Repentance — The Turning Point of Grace
Repentance is not about shame—it’s about returning. It’s the moment when we stop running from truth and allow God to realign our hearts with His. It’s sorrow that leads to healing, not condemnation. True repentance begins when we see sin not just as breaking a rule but as breaking relationship—w
