Control is an illusion

If you are an author and you think you had all the control—no, you didn't. If you did it right, you had a team of people; editors, cover artists, beta readers, and formatters. Doing all that yourself—not a gloat. Writing does require an editor. No author can see all of their blind spots. Teams are a positive thing, not a bad one. Doing it on your own shows a lack of understanding of what it takes for a book to get made. Teams ground you and give you criticism when you need to hear it, it humanizes you.
