the BEST acne safe face cleansers!! 🫧💦

My 2-Step Cleansing Secret for Clear Skin ✨

Acne-prone skin doesn't have to mean "squeaky clean" (aka stripped). I keep my cleansing simple with these two options!!

1️⃣ PM Cleanse: The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser. Rub for 10-20 seconds and it will turn from cream to oil to a milk consistency. It’s the BEST for removing sunscreen or makeup products at the end of the day.

2️⃣ AM Cleanse: Prequel Gleanser. High glycerin = high hydration. It’s a literal hug for your face. The texture is my favorite, and it’s fragrance free + hypoallergenic!

Both are 100% acne-safe and fungal acne friendly. 🫶🏻

Have you tried these? What’s your favorite face cleanser for your skin type? 🫧💦🫶🏻

... Read moreFinding the right cleanser when you have acne-prone skin can feel like a never-ending quest, right? I totally get it! For years, I struggled, thinking 'squeaky clean' was the goal, only to find my skin feeling stripped, irritated, and breaking out even more. But here's the huge lesson I learned: truly 'acne-safe' doesn't mean harsh. It means gentle, effective, and barrier-supporting. So, what exactly makes a cleanser 'acne-safe'? It boils down to a few key things. First, look for products labeled "non-comedogenic." This means they're formulated not to clog pores, which is crucial for preventing new breakouts. Second, skip harsh sulfates and strong fragrances. These can irritate your skin, strip its natural oils, and damage your protective barrier, making it more vulnerable to acne-causing bacteria. Instead, opt for cleansers with mild surfactants and ideally, no added fragrance. Ingredients like glycerin, found abundantly in products like the Prequel Glycerin Cleanser, are absolute gems. Glycerin is a humectant, meaning it draws moisture into your skin, keeping it hydrated and happy without feeling greasy. This is especially important if you're using other acne treatments that can be drying. Similarly, squalane, like in The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser, is fantastic for dissolving makeup and sunscreen gently while replenishing your skin's lipids. It's truly amazing how it transforms from a cream to an oil to a milky texture, making makeup removal a breeze without any harsh rubbing. When you're choosing your next acne-safe cleanser, also pay attention to the pH level. Our skin is naturally slightly acidic, around a pH of 5.5. Using cleansers that are too alkaline can disrupt this balance, leading to dryness and irritation. Many gentle, low-pH cleansers are now widely available. Beyond the product itself, your cleansing technique plays a massive role. I used to scrub my face like I was trying to remove superglue! Big mistake. Always cleanse with lukewarm water – never hot, as that can be too harsh. Gently massage the cleanser onto your skin for about 30-60 seconds, using light, circular motions. Think of it as dissolving impurities, not scrubbing them away. Then, rinse thoroughly and gently pat your face dry with a clean towel. Avoid rubbing! I've also found that a double cleanse in the evening, as I do with my PM routine, is super effective, especially if you wear makeup or sunscreen. Starting with an oil-based cleanser, like The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser, helps to melt away all those stubborn products without stripping your skin. Then, follow up with a water-based cleanser, like the Prequel Gleanser, to ensure everything is clean and prepped for your serums and moisturizers. This ensures your skin is truly clean, but still feels soft and hydrated, never tight. Trust me, making these small shifts in how you choose and use your cleanser can make a huge difference in achieving and maintaining clear, healthy skin!
