waiting for physio to start

... Read moreWaiting for a physiotherapy session to begin can sometimes feel like wasted time, especially when you’re eager to start your recovery process. However, I’ve found that using this waiting period effectively can actually enhance the overall benefit of the therapy. One useful approach is to focus on mental preparation. Before my sessions, I take a few deep breaths and visualize the outcomes I want to achieve. This helps me stay calm and increases my motivation to push through the physical challenges. Also, this time can be a great opportunity to review any exercises or advice your physiotherapist has previously given you. Refreshing your memory about proper techniques ensures that when you do your home exercises, you do them correctly, which significantly aids recovery. If the waiting area has some space, gentle stretching or mobility exercises recommended by your therapist can be done to keep your muscles active and prevent stiffness. Finally, use this waiting time to reflect on your progress so far. Keeping a physical therapy journal has been helpful for me; jotting down improvements or any pain experienced helps when discussing your treatment with the physiotherapist. Remember, waiting for physio to start doesn’t have to be unproductive. By adopting these strategies, you can feel more engaged in your recovery journey and make the most of every moment, even before the session officially begins.
