The sound of suffering

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Malcolm Turner has suffered from tinnitus all his life. However, the episodes are getting worse. He is sleep deprived while trying to save his marriage and career that are both failing. As Malcolm has little hope for life, he stumbles across a group of people who are in a chat room. They are called The Undertones, people who are all sharing the same experiences. Sinister events begin to unfold around the world. Is the buzzing that the undertones hear, the key to these catastrophic events or is it something more sinister?

After seeing the cover for this story, I was instantly intrguied. It gave me really strong horror vibes which is perfect for the spooky season. It wasn't what I was expecting from this book, but it did interest me. The book has several POV's to show how bad these incidents are. The main story follows Malcolm who is at rock bottom but is still trying to turn his life around. The book was fast paced and the ending was executed well. It wasn't what I was expecting but the book didn't give off any major horror vibes like you would have expected from the cover. The author covered some deep topics which pulled at your heart strings and did make the story quite emotional. I also enjoyed the personality that the author gave to Malcolm as there was the odd inner thought that he had that was quite humorous.
