She Didn't Feel Like It, But She Still Showed Up!

She didn’t feel like it, but she still showed up.

All the way from Australia, her “teacher” guiding her through Chinese revision with YiYi.

At the start, you could see, the hesitation, the little “I don’t feel like it” moment. As a mum, you feel it too. But she still sat there, slowly settling in, doing it step by step.

And it made me pause for a while. Sometimes it’s really not about being ready or feeling like it. It’s just choosing to show up, even a little, even with resistance.

Watching her reminded me, this is how growth looks like, quiet, not perfect, but consistent.

In our own small ways, we’re both learning the same thing. To show up, to try, to keep going. And that’s enough for today.

How are you showing up for your family and yourself, even on the days you don’t feel like it?

... Read moreShowing up even when you don’t feel like it can be one of the toughest challenges, especially for parents balancing multiple roles and responsibilities. From my own experience, I’ve found that the simple act of showing up—whether it’s helping my child with homework, or just being present emotionally—often matters far more than being perfect or fully prepared. For example, during times when energy is low or motivation is hard to summon, I remind myself that small chunks of focused effort can accumulate over time. Just like the story shared of the mum from Australia who, despite hesitation and reluctance, committed to helping with Chinese revision step by step, I’ve learned that consistency builds confidence and progress. Moreover, it’s important to acknowledge the resistance without letting it become a barrier. Some days, it might be as small as sitting down at the table with your child or making a quick phone call for support. These actions reinforce commitment and model a growth mindset to our children. In my journey, I’ve also discovered that community support—whether from fellow working mums or parenting groups—can provide encouragement and inspiration to keep showing up. Sharing struggles and small victories helps normalize these feelings and highlights that perfection isn’t the goal; persistence is. Ultimately, growth is often quiet and imperfect. It’s about those incremental daily choices to try and keep going, even on tough days. This mindset shift has been transformative, helping me balance family and personal goals with more compassion and patience for myself and my children.

Pumping Mistake I Didn’t See It Coming
After being discharged from the hospital, I went straight into pumping. For all my babies, I chose to exclusively pump because I personally don’t like the latching feeling. PP Day 2 I pumped for 15 minutes… but nothing came out. I thought, “Okay, maybe my milk hasn’t come in yet,” so I didn

The Busan hotel I didn’t want to check out of 🇰🇷
My mum hadn’t travelled in a while. So when we finally planned this trip — 8 winter days in Busan, just the two of us — I wanted to get the accommodation right. I debated the price for longer than I’d like to admit. But the moment we walked in, I stopped debating. And by the end of the stay, I knew
