I recently followed a similar 13-day itinerary through China, spending 3 nights each in Beijing and Xi’an, 4 nights exploring Xinjiang, and finishing with 3 nights in Chengdu. Each destination offered a unique glimpse into China’s rich cultural and geographical diversity. Starting in Beijing, I recommend dedicating time to iconic sites like the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the Summer Palace. Early morning visits help avoid crowds and capture better photos. Moving on to Xi’an, seeing the Terracotta Warriors is an unforgettable experience. The ancient city wall there is also worth cycling around for a different perspective. Xinjiang was a highlight due to its stunning landscapes and vibrant Uyghur culture. I explored the vast deserts and mountain ranges, trying local dishes like hand-pulled noodles and lamb kebabs. Prepare for longer travel distances between cities in Xinjiang, so planning transport ahead is crucial. Chengdu charms visitors with its relaxed vibe and famous giant pandas. Besides visiting the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, I enjoyed sampling spicy Sichuan cuisine and strolling through local teahouses. A helpful tip for any multi-city China trip is to book flights or high-speed trains in advance, especially for the Xinjiang leg where distances are vast. Also, ensure your travel apps support offline use or have VPNs set up, as some Google services are restricted. This itinerary blends historical landmarks, breathtaking natural wonders, and cultural immersion, providing a well-rounded China adventure. Feel free to ask specific questions about any segment, as tailoring your plans to your interests makes the journey more rewarding.
