My top 4 local food shops HILO, HI☀️

1. Chillville: Mango Sticky Rice is my number 1 choice especially during mango season 😋

2. Kimo&Melias Hawaiian Grindz: brahhhhhh all of their food options is bomb…cures my crave for hawaiiian food one speed

3. Kula Shave Ice: All of their products are made with simple ingredients and it’s my favorite spot to grab an açaí bowl. My order is the POI bowl, sub the mango (when it’s not season) for papaya and add the Haupia cream🤤

4. Puckerup cafe: the ginger poke got me in a choke hold every time 🤤🤤🤤

Chillville’s Mango Sticky Rice stands out especially during mango season, offering a perfect balance of sweet, creamy coconut with fresh mangoes—a true seasonal delight. If you're craving a variety of authentic Hawaiian dishes, Kimo & Melias Hawaiian Grindz is the go-to spot. Their menu captures the essence of Hawaiian comfort food, satisfying your taste buds with every bite. Kula Shave Ice is more than just a spot for refreshing treats; their use of simple, quality ingredients makes their açaí bowls particularly special. I always opt for the POI bowl, substituting papaya for mango when out of season, topped with their rich Haupia cream—a taste that embodies Hawaiian tradition and health-conscious eating. Lastly, Puckerup Cafe’s ginger poke has a distinctively bold and spicy kick that keeps me coming back. This dish pairs the freshness of poke with the zesty brightness of ginger, making it a standout on the local food scene. These four spots aren’t just places to eat; they represent the vibrant food culture of Hilo, offering a genuine taste of island life that’s hard to find elsewhere. Whether you’re a visitor or a local, embracing these flavors is like taking a bite out of Hawaii’s heart.
