Tried making friends in class??

Today I tried slipping out of my comfort zone and tried making friends in class. We had a group assignment and I didn’t know anyone in that class so I turned to the person next to me and asked oh do you want to be in a group and he said yeah. From there we found three other people to be a group of five and we discussed our topic. I was thinking of when to ask for everybody’s name since we didn’t do it when we formed the group ha ha but once class ended and I was walking out the door, I held the door open for someone and it was this one guy that was in my group. I took the opportunity to say oh I didn’t catch your name what was it Generally just made small talk before I said ill see you later. That conversation that initiated honestly made my day because it seemed like the guy I talk to was shy and don’t get me wrong. I wish I as well however, I wanted to push myself to make friends.

... Read moreAfter reading about that brave step to make friends during a group assignment, it really got me thinking about how much these everyday class interactions, both inside and outside the classroom, truly shape who we become. I've often felt that initial hesitation, that little voice telling you to just stick to yourself. But honestly, tried making friends in class?? It's one of the best challenges you can embrace for your personal development! It's not just about getting good grades; these interactions are a hidden curriculum for life skills. Inside the classroom, group projects, discussions, and even just casual chats before or after lectures are goldmines for growth. For instance, working on a group assignment forces you to hone your communication skills. You learn to articulate your ideas clearly, listen actively to others, and even navigate disagreements to reach a consensus. This isn't just useful for a project; it's crucial for any future career or relationship. You also develop teamwork and collaboration skills, figuring out how to delegate, support teammates, and manage different personalities – skills that are highly valued everywhere. That initial courage to ask, 'Do you want to be in a group?' as the original post mentioned, is a prime example of taking initiative and subtly developing leadership qualities. But the personal development doesn't stop when the bell rings. Out-of-class activities with classmates are equally powerful. Think about impromptu study sessions, grabbing coffee together, or even joining a club related to your major or interest. These informal settings allow you to refine your social skills in a more relaxed environment. You learn to build deeper connections, understand different perspectives, and even broaden your network for future opportunities. I remember joining a study group once, and not only did my grades improve, but I also made some lifelong friends who supported me through tough academic periods. Having that social support system is invaluable for mental well-being and helps reduce the stress that comes with academic life. It’s also where you often discover shared passions and hobbies, helping you to explore your identity and find your 'tribe.' So, if you're thinking about how to actively encourage this personal growth, here are a few tips I've picked up along the way: Be Approachable: A simple smile or open body language can make a huge difference. Put your phone away before class starts and look around. Initiate Small Talk: Ask about the assignment, a challenging lecture, or even something light like weekend plans. Remember, everyone is probably feeling a little shy too! Join Study Groups or Clubs: This is a natural way to connect with people who share your academic or personal interests. It provides a common ground to build conversations. Offer Help (or Ask for It!): If you understand a concept well, offer to explain it. If you're struggling, don't be afraid to ask for clarification from a classmate. It's a great icebreaker. Be Patient and Authentic: Friendships take time to develop. Be yourself, and the right connections will naturally form. Don't force it. Ultimately, consciously engaging with your classmates, whether it's through a mandatory group project or a voluntary after-class hangout, is a profound investment in your personal development. It cultivates resilience, boosts confidence, sharpens critical life skills, and enriches your overall experience. Don't underestimate the power of those connections; they're shaping the person you're becoming, one conversation at a time.

I Finally Tried Making Turkish Pasta
This was pretty good, it taste like a healthy lasagna. I’d give it 6.8 out of 10 and next time I’ll probably add some Italian sausage and feta on top that would make it a 8/10 for me. (I forgot in the instructions to squeeze the lemon juice to top everything off.)😋 #turkishpasta #cookingathome
