So I will be the first to say what works for some won’t for others. This works for me and I do enjoy the smell and the luxe feel. But this does dry the skin and also I’ve used cheaper items that feel better on the skin and do just as good or better. Sometimes we play into it being expensive or hype. This is one of those times for me. I’ll still use it up but won’t be a repurchase unless I am just wanting the scent experience.
Having tried the Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam myself, I can relate to the mixed feelings about it. The scent truly sets it apart—it's subtle yet elegant, giving a spa-like experience during use. The texture feels smooth and mousse-like, which adds to the luxurious sensation. However, I did notice my skin felt tight and a bit dry afterwards, especially in colder months or if I skipped moisturizing. For someone with dry or sensitive skin, this might not be the best daily cleanser. Price-wise, it’s definitely on the higher end of the spectrum. I tried a few more affordable cleansers that left my skin feeling more hydrated and soft, without compromising on cleansing efficiency. It seems that some of the cost is for branding and the premium packaging. One thing I appreciated, though, was how gentle it was on the eyes—no stinging or irritation, which can be rare with foaming cleansers. If you are someone who prioritizes the sensory experience and don’t mind spending on skincare for the fragrance and texture, this might be worth trying. But if you’re looking strictly for performance and hydration at a reasonable price, there are other stellar options available that won’t dry out your skin or empty your wallet. Ultimately, while it works for some, this cleanser may not be the best fit for everyone, especially if your skin tends to be dry or sensitive.
Best cleanser I've used especially when paired with the moisturizer. May not be great for your skin type. Have you tried Tatcha?
