UAE Dubai Artificial Island Construction
HistoryAt the beginning of the 21st century, after Dubai in the United Arab Emirates developed into a global metropolis, to solve the problem of land shortage, it decided to build artificial palm islands in the sea, and then construct luxury resorts and shopping places on the islands to attract investors and wealthy individuals from around the world to settle there. The Palm Island project consists of four island groups: Palm Jumeirah, Palm Alīshān, Palm Deira, and The World, with The World being the world's largest artificial island.
The entire land reclamation project began in September 2003 and the first island emerged above water in April 2004. At the 2007 Urban Landscape Large Real Estate Exhibition held in Dubai on October 17, 2007, Nahla Group proudly announced to the world that the most basic stage of the ongoing The World project-the land reclamation and breakwater construction-would be completed by the end of 2007, and all infrastructure would be fully completed by 2008.
