Be tracked every click and print! ⌨️🖱️
Meta has been collecting mouse-scrolling data, click positions, and randomly capturing employees' computer screens at regular intervals through a program called the Model Capability Initiative (MCI). Alarmingly, employees are told that they have "no opt-out" to be tracked. 🚫
The resistance from 😡
Of course, this caused a lot of discontent. Employees sent hundreds of angry emojis on the company's web boards. Protest leaflets were placed throughout the office, in the bathroom and the conference room, in reference to the National Labor Relations Act, to remind them that employees have the legal right to include claims to protect their rights. ⚖️
A conclusion that still leaves paranoia 🛑
Most recently, Meta retreated, announcing that it would no longer use the stored data for AI training purposes...But the point is, the company still insists on continuing to monitor employee work for other reasons that aren't clearly stated, and employees still can't press this untracking anyway.
Scouting to develop AI may be over...But the "paranoia" of employees has just begun. 💔
